Ottawa Immigration manager Diane Serre has been found guilty of all 27 charges against her, including breach of trust and defrauding the government, for taking money and gifts to fast-track residency applications. She was sentenced to 18 months in jail.
Serre, 41, was accused of partnering with friend Issam Dakik to take thousands of dollars from tne mostly Middle Eastern immigrants in exchange for speeding up the immigration process.
Dakik pleaded guilty to his role in the scheme in 2006 and was sentenced to 33 months in jail.

McLean said Barker’s decision to breach the trust of hockey parents and other members of the executive by forging cheques and using league funds to pay his own personal credit card bills was deserving of the 18 months in jail that a Crown prosecutor was seeking.McLean also fined Barker $42,000, which he must pay within a decade or face another year in jail.
